An issue was identified in which Computed Field values were not recomputing in a small number of cases, resulting in some fields displaying outdated values once source data changed. This issue was proactively identified by Benchling, and a solution has been developed to ensure that going forward all Computed Field values are accurate and up-to-date.
What Happened?
Benchling identified that in a small number of cases, Computed Fields did not update their value when a source input was changed. We have identified the root causes during our investigation, and implemented a system that routinely verifies and updates Computed Fields by running scheduled checks to ensure their values remain accurate and up to date.
How Do I Know If I Am Impacted?
This issue occurred only in a very small percentage of cases, so not all customers or Computed Fields were affected. If your tenant was impacted, the Benchling Customer Experience team will reach out directly. As part of the resolution process, we will provide a list of Computed Fields with mismatched data in your tenant and work with you to review and resolve the issue.
Ongoing Prevention
With this improvement, Benchling will now perform routine scheduled verification checks to proactively ensure all Computed Fields reflect the most current and correct data. This will ensure Computed Fields are updated after data changes moving forward.
Continuous Release Tenants (non-GxP)
- The new validation system has already been released to continuous release tenants that did not have outdated Computed Fields in order to prevent this issue from occurring.
- For customers with impacted Computed Fields, Benchling will proactively reach out to you and communicate the remediation timeline.
Validated Cloud Tenants (GxP)
- The new validation system will be released to validated tenants on April 3 2026 via the production 2026.1 upgrade.
