What Happened?
On June 18, 2025, Benchling began to see large volumes of per-action validation emails being sent by our email notification system. This volume of emails approached the limit for the number of emails that can be sent by our system. Our engineering team is currently working on a solution that will allow all necessary emails to be sent successfully without exceeding this limit.
In order to ensure that all other email notifications (including password reset mails, Workflows emails, and @-mention emails) are sent as expected as we work toward full resolution of this issue, we have temporarily disabled per-action validation emails.
Who Is Impacted?
Per-action validation emails have been disabled for all non-Validated-Cloud tenants. Per-action validation emails are opt-in. If this functionality was not enabled in your tenant before July 3, your tenant is not affected. If you did not see a banner in your tenant during the July 3-July 7 period, that indicates that this functionality was not enabled in your tenant before July 3, and you are not affected.
Validated Cloud tenants are unaffected and will continue to receive per-action validation emails during this time.
How To View Entities that Have Failed Validation
Method 1: Summary Emails Sent to Org Admins
Daily registry validation summary emails are not affected by this change and will still be sent to Organization Admins. One summary email will be sent per day, only on days when one or more new validation errors have occurred in the tenant in the last 24 hours.
If you are an Organization Admin, you can view entities that have failed validation in the last 24 hours by following the instructions in this email.
If you are an Organization Admin and you do not receive a Validation Summary email, this indicates that no entities in your Organization's Registry have failed validation in the past 24 hours.
Method 2: Global Search and Filter in Benchling
If you are not an Organization Admin and would like to view recent Validation Errors, this information can be found in Benchling by following these steps:
1. In your Benchling tenant, go to the Registry icon in the left sidebar.
2. Set the 'Validation Status' filter to 'Failed' and Apply the filter.
This will show all entities in the tenant that currently have a validation status of 'Failed'.
