Why aren't my child lot numbers sequential to the parent entity?

Issue

Wrong lot numbers are given to child entities

For example, lots from Parent A and Parent B become Parent A-001, Parent A-002, Parent B-003, Parent B-004 instead of Parent A-001, Parent A-002, Parent B-001, Parent B-002.

Cause

Name template isn't using the Parent lot number: [Parent Entity] field.

Resolution steps

In the entity schema settings, make sure the name template uses the field from the dropdown called "Parent lot number: Parent Entity"
