Note: We're continually improving the Benchling platform to ensure it keeps up with our customers' needs. As of September 29, 2021, we replaced Workflows with an updated version. If you are currently using this version of Workflows and want to learn more, contact your Account Manager. If you are new to Workflows, visit Workflows overview.

What are Registration tables?

Registration tables enable users to register the following from a Workflow Stage Entry:

  • New entities

  • New entities and child entities

  • New child entities of an existing entity

Insert your Registration table into your workflow stage entry

In your entry's formatting bar, click Insert and then Registration table. In the Insert Registration table modal (picture below), select the schema for which you want to create entities or child entities for, the desired Registry Naming Option, and designate which type of Registration table you'd like to insert (e.g. Create new entities). To learn more about the new Registration tables, please visit this article.

Create a child entity of an existing entity

Following the steps above, select a child entity schema (e.g. Plasmid Prep) in the Insert registration table modal. Once inserted in the entry, enter the parent entity in the column provided followed by any other metadata fields specific to this child entity.

After data entry, click Submit to register your child entity. The Entity column will populate with the ID of your registered child entity.
