For organizational purposes, we recommend aligning .ab1 files directly on the plasmid that was sequenced and viewing them there. Please refer to the Aligning to a Template article
Go to Create and choose Import DNA Sequences from the drop down menu. Click Or Choose A File to upload your .ab1 file from your computer and save it in a specified project folder.

Once your .ab1 (or other trace) file has been uploaded. Find it in Benchling and click on it.
To view the alignment, go to the alignment panel on the right and either create a new alignment or view a saved alignment for that sequence
Adjust the trace graph height by using the scroll bar on the left.
