When supporting you in email or in-app chat, we may need additional context to help find a solution. You can help by capturing your issue and processes in a screen recording and sharing it with Benchling Support.

Record your screen

You can record your screen on any computer, but the instructions vary depending on your operating system.

Mac

You can record your screen on a Mac using the built-in Screenshot toolbar.

To record your screen:

  1. Press + Shift + 5 to open the Screenshot toolbar.

    1. Alternatively, you can open the application from Spotlight by clicking the lens icon in the toolbar, searching for screenshot, then pressing Enter to open the toolbar.

  2. Click Record entire screen or Record selected portion. If you record a selected portion, click and drag the corners of the dotted-line box to fit the screen portion you’re recording.

  3. Click Record.

  4. Complete the process that triggers the issue you need to share.

  5. When completed, click the Stop Recording icon in the toolbar.

Windows

You can record your screen on Windows using XBox Gamebar, which is installed by default on Windows 10 computers. If this tool isn’t enabled yet on your device, visit Microsoft’s support page.

To record your screen:

  1. Press the Windows logo key + G to open XBox Gamebar.

  2. Press the Windows logo key + Alt + R to begin recording.

  3. Complete the process that triggers the issue you need to share.

  4. When completed, press the Windows logo key + Alt + R again to stop recording.

Videos typically save to your desktop, unless you've selected a different location. You can then attach these files to emails and chats.
