Benchling MCP no longer prompts for daily re-authentication [2026.6.AI.19]
Previously, the Benchling MCP prompted all users to re-authenticate once every 24 hours. With this recent change, the MCP session stays active as long as the user is logged into Benchling and actively uses the MCP.

Review change and snapshot information on the entry retrieval API and its corresponding event have been promoted from beta to stable in the v2 API.
Deleted fields can be re-inserted as single inputs [2026.6.N.4]
Users can now re-insert previously deleted columns as single inputs from run script context menus, matching the existing behavior available from table headers.
Freeze table columns [2026.6.N.5]
Users can now set how many columns to "freeze" on a table's left-hand side to remain visible while scrolling horizontally.
Extended malware scanning to general file storage buckets [2026.6.N.6]
Benchling has extended AWS GuardDuty malware scanning coverage to general-purpose file storage buckets. Previously, scanning was limited to notebook attachment. Files uploaded to Registry FileTable fields are now also scanned for malware, completing coverage across all file storage in Benchling.
Molecular Biology
Benchling's Molecular Biology is a cutting-edge in silico design tool that supports the latest scientific workflows.
Search supports DNA sequence annotation name and bases [2026.6.MB.1]
Users can now search for DNA sequences by combining annotation name with the bases or residues within the annotated region. This enables queries like finding all sequences whose annotations named 'promoter' or 'CDR' contain a specific sequence.
Custom formats in Benchling Biologics supports LC and CL as monomerization centers [2026.6.MB.2]
Users can now use LC (light chain) and CL (constant light domain) as monomerization centers when providing custom formats as VERITAS strings.
Protein formats and protein schemas can be config migrated [2026.6.MB.3]
Benchling Biologics now supports migrating both formats and protein schemas across tenants.
Back-traverse part and translation links in Lookup tables [2026.6.MB.4]
Users can now add a reverse-direction Lookup step that traverses part and translation links, going from a DNA or AA part to the sequences that contain it or from an AA sequence to its translation-linked DNA sequences.
Broader rotation handling in plasmid alignments [2026.6.MB.5]
DNA alignments now consider circular rotation when the template is a plasmid and input sequences differ in length by up to 20% (rather than 10%). This should improve plasmid alignment results for reads with mismatched lengths. Users can still opt-out of using automatic rotation when desired.
Protein entity and format tables in Warehouse [2026.6.MB.6]
For customers using Benchling Biologics, tables for protein entities and formats are now available in the Warehouse and for use in Insights Dashboards.

Support for Unknown sex for animals [2026.6.IV.3]
When this setting is enabled, Sex includes a third option, 'Unknown', for cases where an animal's sex hasn't yet been determined. When syncing animal Sex into a dropdown field on the core tenant Animal Schema, an option called "unknown" must exist in this dropdown to avoid sync errors.
Faster In Vivo sync and backfill [2026.6.IV.4]
In Vivo entity sync and backfill now process events in parallel for higher throughput on large studies.
Team Glossary API resource deprecated for new glossaries [2026.6.IV.5]
Each tenant now has its own glossary for sample types and observations, along with dedicated resources for each of these glossaries. The legacy Team Glossary API resource has been deprecated for this reason.
Registry and Inventory
The Registry and Inventory combine to form an extremely powerful solution for life sciences R&D samples. The Registry can be used to model and log any biological entities while the Inventory provides an interactive digital window into the physical storage system of your lab.
Added search bar to schema menu when creating entities from registry + button [2026.6.RI.1]
A search bar has been added to the schema menu when creating entities in the Registry, helping users quickly find the correct schema on tenants that have many schemas configured.

The main entity is now visually more prominent in the entity map, making it easier to identify in complex diagrams.

Mixture schemas configured for both text and container lots now allow deleting the unused lot column, so users can submit mixtures as long as the remaining lot data is filled.
Boolean schema fields supported in Inventory schemas [2026.6.RI.6]
Inventory schemas now support boolean schema fields, bringing them into parity with other schema types.
Promoted Location and LocationSchema to stable V3 [2026.6.RI.7]
The Location and LocationSchema types in the v3 API has been moved from beta to stable
Change to V3 beta API endpoint for entity.folder [2026.6.RI.8]
Made a change to V3 beta API for consistency with V2 APIs. The folder field on OligoConjugate and OligoDuplex response objects may now return null instead of always returning a Folder reference. Specifically, in V3 the entity.folder previously always returned a Folder and after this change, it will be possible to get a null back instead.
Inventory content types search supports multiple entity schemas [2026.6.RI.9]
Users can now select multiple entity schema content types in inventory search to retrieve containers holding entities of any selected type in a single query.
Entity results tab now shows last modified date [2026.6.RI.10]
The results tab on entity pages now displays the last modified date for each result, helping users identify recent changes.
Workflows
Workflows are a sequence of processes that are performed to answer a research question or synthesize new material.
Planned workflow transitions editable from single transition modal [2026.6.W.1]
Planned transitions can now be edited from the single-transition configuration modal, allowing changes to data-flow edges, field assignments, and lookup configuration. Node addition and removal remain restricted, and editing is still blocked in active configuration and viewer states.
Show or hide data flow edges in workflow config [2026.6.W.2]
Users can now toggle visibility of data flow edges and fields in workflow configuration and single transition modals to simplify navigation. Toggling does not change node positions.
Merge transitions can be added directly on flowchart canvas [2026.6.W.3]
When drawing an edge to a node already targeted by other transitions on the procedure flowchart canvas, a modal now lets users keep the new transition separate or add it to existing transitions. This removes the need to delete and redraw merge transitions.
Insights
Insights enables users to query, visualize, and share high quality, structured data that resides in Benchling.
Analysis Charting Framework General Availability [2026.6.IN.1]
Analysis Charting Framework migrates all existing Insights Analysis chart types (Scatter, Line, Bar, Pie, Heat Map, and Box Plot) to a consolidated, unified charting framework. This standardization delivers a consistent configuration experience across all chart types and unlocks a new suite of shared capabilities: color picking, point styling, custom axis labeling, a refreshed right-sidebar configuration panel, and flexible legend controls.
Benchling Connect
Benchling Connect, formerly Lab Automation, enables seamless integration of Benchling to liquid handlers, plate readers, imaging instruments, and more.
All instrument connectors now available by default for Connect-enabled customers [2026.6.BC.1]
Every available instrument connector is now available on all Connect-enabled tenants, with no setup required. When creating a new Connection, you'll see all supported instrument types under Connection Type, including Gen5, Vi-Cell XR, Nanodrop, and the rest of the supported instrument library, ready to use right away.
Previously, individual instrument types had to be turned on before they could be configured. That step is gone. This makes it faster to connect new instruments, easier to explore which integrations fit your lab, and removes a layer of coordination from onboarding.
Benchling Gateway 1.2.1 available with installer verification guidance [2026.6.BC.2]
Benchling Gateway 1.2.1 is now available. The gateway download page now displays the installer SHA-256 hash and Windows SmartScreen guidance, so users can confirm installer authenticity when the new code-signing certificate triggers an unfamiliar-file warning.
Connection Schemas no longer have access policy configurations [2026.6.BC.3]
The access policies tab has been removed from Connection Schemas, as it didn’t provide additional functionality to users when permissions were granted.
Schemas
Schemas are the structural foundation for how your information is categorized in Benchling. They are categories created specifically for your tenant that can represent materials, data, storage methods, and tasks.
Entity schemas in the V3 API now have an `iconId` property [2026.6.SCH.1]
There is now an `iconId` property on entity schemas in the V3 API.
Access Management
Access management is the way customers control who is able to access which resources, and includes things like project permissions, access policies, and admin roles.
Delegated auth available [2026.6.AM.1]
Delegated Auth allows apps to act on behalf of individual users, so the app is limited to what that user can see/do, and any actions the user takes via the app are attributed to the user in the audit log or other fields like created by. The audit log still has information about which app was used to make those changes so customers will have a complete picture of who made which changes via what mechanism.
Removed the list of Tenant Admins on the tenant Settings page. [2026.6.AM.2]
Tenant Admins are now exclusively managed via Tenant Roles UI on Users, Teams, and Organizations pages.
Application Core
To create a seamless Benchling experience, our platform must be consistent, compliant and predictable. The Application Core provides the central capabilities to create a smoother user experience.
Upgrade interactive analysis packages [2026.6.AC.1]
As part of a routine upgrade to our underlying interactive analysis packages, we've upgraded scipy v1.11.1 -> v1.17.1 and statsmodels v0.14.1 -> 0.14.6. These are associated dependencies for our Analysis Regression model support. Details on specific packaging related to this can be found in our Help Center documentation here.
New configuration migration UI [2026.6.AC.2]
The new configuration migration UI which uses tabs instead of steps This change allows admins to choose which order they'd like to manage their objects in config migration, and also makes the process more efficient as validation only has to be done at the end instead of being re-run at every step. The old UI is temporarily available to go back to, but will be removed in a future release.
AV scanning placeholders in exports [2026.6.AC.3]
Where exports would previously wait on AV scanning, now files pending an antivirus scan are replaced by an informational placeholder file in the export, prefixed by AV_PENDING. This applies for blocked files too, just with AV_MALWARE. The original file name is included in this informational placeholder file.
Malware-flagged files blocked from exports [2026.6.AC.4]
Files flagged as malware or pending antivirus scan are now blocked from ZIP exports. A placeholder file is inserted in the exported ZIP at the expected location to indicate a file was withheld due to its scan status.
Scheduled backups moved to Sundays [2026.6.AC.5]
Automated scheduled backups have been moved to Sundays (from Saturdays) to avoid overlap with the monthly maintenance windows..
Developer Platform
Our developer platform is fundamental to centralizing and standardizing all your R&D data. Benchling's APIs and Events are built to match the flexibility and speed of modern life science R&D.
Webhook URLs can now be static [2026.6.DP.1]
Previously, we always added a suffix to a webhook URL (e.g. /events, /lifecycle) when sending a webhook to a Benchling App. Developers can now opt to keep the URL static. This improvement unblocks using a URL that is not controlled by the app, often required for integrations with productivity tools like Zapier, Workato, and Slack.
[BETA] V3 REST API available [2026.6.DP.2]
V3 REST now uses a unified OpenAPI spec that is surfaced under one URL at /v3/.
- v3-alpha and v3-beta are deprecated. Endpoints in beta stability are surfaced in the unified spec and opt-in via an EARLY-ACCESS: true API header.
- The Benchling prefix has been removed from the URL and the object name.
Display values for Assay Result float fields in Warehouse [2026.6.DP.3]
Display values for float fields in Assay Results will be available in schema-specific Warehouse tables. This feature will be released in phases over approximately the next 1-3 weeks. Display values for float fields will appear in new Warehouse columns suffixed with "$disp".
For example, a float field with a system name "concentration" will appear as a display value in a new column called "concentration$disp". These new display value columns in the Warehouse mirror the "displayValue" field returned from the Assay Results API. If a Result schema field is configured with "displayPrecision", the display value in the Warehouse will reflect that display precision. If the schema field is configured with text dropdown values, the display value in the Warehouse will contain dropdown values when selected.
BioProcess
Our BioProcess offering helps with process development studies, including non-In Vivo workflows. It includes tools for tracking, managing, and analyzing experiments like process development studies, recipes, and studies.
[BETA] Show schemaFields on Study V3 GET API [2026.6.BP.1]
Users can now see schemaField values for an existing study via the GET endpoint.
Remove irrelevant fields from Parameter Library APIs (breaking API change) [2026.6.BP.2]
Cleaned up parameter library APIs to remove some fields that should not have been part of the APIs:
- Removed archiveSubtreeId from update endpoint
- Removed legacyArchiveRecordId from update endpoint
Any API request that includes these two fields will now be rejected.
Allow setting Authors on Study Create and Update APIs [2026.6.BP.3]
Set one or more authors on a Study via the API. Omitting this field falls back to the default behavior, which is to list the user who created the study as the sole author.
Recipe and Assay Run Plans [2026.6.BP.4]
Create a draft Recipe (or Assay) Run Plan, save it, iterate on it, and turn it into a Recipe Run when users are ready. This gives users the ability to iterate with colleagues on a run plan.
This flow replaces the prior modal-based flow. This does not change how assay runs are created in clinical and pre-clinical studies.
Analyze data from multiple Process Development or Analytical Development studies at the same time. [2026.6.BP.5]
There is now a new Analyze button on the expanded Studies search panel. Select multiple studies in search results and then hit Analyze to get all of the data from those studies into a single analysis.
Off-line results included in Recipe and Assay based analyses [2026.6.BP.6]
Results about samples created in a worksheet (where those results are recorded outside the worksheet) are now included in any auto-generated analysis that includes that unit operation. The most common type of result this now includes are off-line test results recorded by an analytical services team.
Studies lookup column support [2026.6.BP.7]
Notebook and Worksheet tables now support a Studies lookup column. Look-up the Study or Studies associated with any object that can be associated with Studies.

Benchling's cloud-based bioinformatics software for antibody/peptide screening & drug development. Conduct BCR, TCR, VHH, scFv, or peptide sequence analysis and integrate your workflows with Benchling's core platform.

The command palette now supports searching for operations by their description text, making it easier to find the right tool when you don't remember its exact name.
