S3 Cloud Gateway for Benchling Connect [2025.3.BC.2]
Benchling Connect now supports an S3 Cloud Gateway, enabling cloud-to-cloud, bi-directional file transfers. Customers can import instrument data files from their AWS S3 buckets into Benchling and export metadata-enriched input files back to their S3 environments.
Schemas
Schemas are the structural foundation for how your information is categorized in Benchling. They are categories created specifically for your tenant that can represent materials, data, storage methods, and tasks.
Resolved duplicate display name validation [2025.3.SCH.1]
Result Schemas now allow duplicate display names without blocking configuration migration or edits in the Spec Editor. Validation for display name uniqueness now only applies to non-Result Schemas in the UI.
Task schema prefixes scoped to orgs [2025.3.SCH.2]
Task schema prefixes now only need to be unique within an org, rather than across the entire tenant. This change aligns with prefix behavior in other schema types.
Application Core
To create a seamless Benchling experience, our platform must be consistent, compliant and predictable. The Application Core provides the central capabilities platform to create a smoother user experience.
Warning for ignored migration objects [2025.3.AC.1]
Users are now warned when objects in a config migration will be ignored due to missing required configuration. The system will attempt to migrate all valid objects and skip those that don't meet requirements.
General Availability release of User Admin role [2025.3.AC.2]
Improve tenant security by making tenant admins that only manage the user lifecycle user admins
The User Admin role provides the ability to grant user and group management to individuals without the requirement that they have full Tenant Admin access. This new feature helps improve role-based security by ensuring you have better control over who has the ability to alter sensitive tenant settings like data or the IP allowlist. This role is enabled on all non-EBL standard deploy tenants, but note that a Tenant Admin must assign the role before it can be used.
Updated tenant comparison report filename [2025.3.AC.3]
The exported tenant comparison report filename was changed from "VALIDATION_REPORT" to "TENANT_COMPARISON_REPORT" for consistency with in-app terminology.
Improved workflow flowchart visibility in config migration [2025.3.AC.4]
Workflow flowchart configuration now displays mapper and router settings in config migration.
Compliance Controls
With Compliance Controls, gathering required information for compliance is simple, intuitive, and performant. The team’s primary focus is on our auditing platform but we also own exporting and archiving.
Fixed audit gap in Result Schemas [2025.3.CC.1]
Creating a result schema field in the UI now correctly generates an audit log event.
Audit event for project creation during org setup [2025.3.CC.2]
When an org is created with an initial project, that project creation is now captured in audit logs.
Audit event for project deletion [2025.3.CC.3]
Project deletions now generate audit log events. Because the project no longer exists, customers must request access to this audit data via support.
Audit event for institution field changes [2025.3.CC.4]
Changes to academic user's institution field are now captured in audit logs.
Audit event for user account closure [2025.3.CC.5]
User-initiated account closures are now recorded as audit events.
Audit for Academic project creation during onboarding [2025.3.CC.6]
Projects created during the Academic onboarding experience are now audited. This issue did not impact enterprise tenants.
Updated audit to show System Name [2025.3.CC.7]
Audit logs now reflect that "System Name" replaces "Warehouse Name" as the display label. This change standardizes naming across warehouse tables, fields, and API resources.
Audit events for bulk approval [2025.3.CC.8]
Adds detailed audit logging for bulk internal entry approvals, including events when entries move from "In Progress" to "Accepted."
Fixed audit label for material input confirmations [2025.3.CC.9]
Material input confirmations were incorrectly audited as "added at" instead of "recorded at." This has been corrected.
Bioprocess
Our Bioprocess offering helps with process development studies, including non-In Vivo workflows. It includes tools for tracking, managing, and analyzing experiments like process development studies, recipes, and studies.
Edit schema prefix on existing Study Schemas [2025.3.BP.1]
Users can now change the schema prefix after a Study Schema has been created. Previously, this was only configurable during initial schema creation.
Renamed Recipe and Assay Templates [2025.3.BP.2]
Recipe Templates and Assay Templates are now labeled as Recipes and Assays throughout the product for consistency.
Reorder equipment table columns [2025.3.BP.3]
Users can now reorder columns in equipment confirmation parameter+ tables.
Skip unit operations without starting [2025.3.BP.4]
Users can now skip a unit operation without first starting its run.
Updated status aggregation for Recipes and Assays [2025.3.BP.5]
Status aggregation for Recipes and Assays now treats failed tasks as "Failed" rather than "Completed," aligning with how workflows handle task failures.
