We’re introducing updates to structured tables, available to tenants who enable this feature. These updates include increased table limits, a refined in-line table experience, and improved export functionality. Here’s what’s new.

Increased Table Limits

  • Table limits are increasing from 500 rows to 1,000 rows
  • Entries will display total cell warnings at 17,500 and 35,000 total cells
  • You will not be blocked from exceeding these cell limits but Benchling will not be able to assist with performance issues beyond this scale
  • The column limit remains 255 columns and will not change.

Note: The cell warning feature will only be available in General Availability (GA). Currently, we are in Limited Availability (LA), so this feature is not yet enabled.

If you encounter issues with these limits, reach out to Benchling Support for assistance.

Improved Table Display and Navigation

  • Tables adjust to fit more data while staying easy to navigate
  • A scroll bar appears when tables exceed a certain height, so you can browse without resizing
  • Tables have a fixed width and height to keep content structured and readable
  • You can scroll past tables smoothly without minimizing them
  • Rows are added with the Add Row button and numeric input field.

Table Exports

  • Tables exceeding 500 rows will be exported as attached CSV files.
  • Large tables will not be rendered in-line in PDF exports, but will be rendered as collapsed tables with the table name visible within the PDF exports.

With these enhancements, you can better manage large tables, maintain performance, and seamlessly export da
