What is saved column mapping?

Saved column mapping allows users to define and store custom configurations that map incoming data fields from a spreadsheet to specific fields within Benchling. Once defined, this mapping can be reused, saving users time by avoiding the need to manually reconfigure the mapping each time they import similar data.

What can I use it for?

You may save a column mapping for any entity import, result import, or entity + container import.

What is included in this release?

Mapping Configuration: Select and associate fields from data source (e.g., a CSV file) to corresponding field in Benchling.

Save & Reuse: After configuring the mapping, save it under a recognizable name for future imports of similar data.

What if I make a mistake when configuring field mappings?

Use ‘Reset to default’ to reset mappings to Benchling suggested column mappings.

Why is this feature important?

Saved mappings ensure that the same columns are always mapped correctly, reducing the risk of human error. This is especially important when importing large volumes of data, ensuring that all materials are categorized and associated correctly.
