In order to execute a hotkey shortcut, simply hold down (CTRL) on a PC or (COMMAND ⌘) on a Mac, followed by pressing one of the keys below:

  • A: Select an entire line of text in an entry // Select an entire DNA/AA sequence 
  • B: Bold the highlighted text in an entry
  • C: Copy selected text // Copy selected AA or DNA sequences
  • F: Open find box
  • I: Italicize highlighted text in an entry
  • K: Insert a hyperlink within selected text in an entry
  • U: Underline selected text
  • X: Cut selected text// Cut selected AA or DNA sequences. Use this to move files around in the ELN
  • V: Paste selected text // Paste selected AA or DNA sequences
  • Z: Undo the last action performed in an entry or DNA/AA sequence

Advanced

  • CTRL/⌘+SHIFT+C when selecting DNA bases: Copy Special (allows copying reverse complements and translations)
  • CTRL/⌘+SHIFT+Z: Redo the last action performed in any entry or DNA/AA sequence

Mac-specific Hotkeys 

  • Option+Shift+8 = °
  • Alt+J = ∆
  • Alt+M = µ
