Dropdowns are a pre-set list of text options that ensure your organization is using standardized naming conventions. Benchling allows users to create these dropdown lists to populate Registry schema metadata fields.

To create, add, or remove options from the a dropdown, navigate to the Registry Settings.

Next, select the Dropdowns option from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

To create a dropdown, click Create in the top right corner. Enter a name for your dropdown, click + to add options individually, or select Import Options to add a line-separated list of options for bulk import.

To edit an existing dropdown, select the dropdown you wish to edit. To add options, click + to add options individually or select Import Options. If you would like to edit or archive an existing option, hover over the option and two icons will appear on the right-hand side. Click the pencil icon to make changes to an existing option or click archive to remove it from the dropdown list.
